He came to bring the Mourners Joy

Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good Courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

SOUL: I cry from my Soul, how long until I cross over, over the Sea of the red Cross, how long must I be tormented? where is the Path? where is the Crossing through the Flood? Alas, where is my Help? My God and Lord! If only I could cross over.

JESUS: I am with you and will help you, I have heard your Supplication. You can believe in me and I will stand by you. Have you forgotten then how I brought you out of Egypt? For Ever and Ever I am with you and will help you.

SOUL: If I could only cross over, I am still in Egypt. I had thought my Wish was granted and all would be Joy. O, but now my Needs are great and Death surrounds me. O how heavy my Heart is. My God and Lord, help me cross to over.

JESUS: I am with you and will guide you through the Waves of the Deep. Do not hesitate to hold on to me for we are wayfaring Companions. So face the deepest Flood with good Courage and you will pass through safely. Trust in me I am with you and will Ever guide you right.

SOUL: Alas, if I could only cross over! and leave behind the Desert Lands beyond the Red Sea of Crosses. There is no Water, Meat or Bread; who is there to feed me every Morning? My God and Lord! if I could only cross over.

JESUS: I am with you in the Desert, nothing can harm you: every morning my Love and Grace is renewed. Water flows from the Rocks, the Wind brings Meat and Bread rains down from Heaven. I go with you and stand by you in the Desert.

SOUL: Alas, if I could only cross over! I suffer Hunger and flee to avoid Amalek’s cruel Army! The Righteous fight and quarrel with Satan at their Side, and the Spirit is blessed by the Flesh. My God and Lord! if only this would pass from me.

JESUS: I am your true Joshua, who was against Amalek. I stand by your Side; I am the One who always conquers. When Flesh, World and Devil come after you I will help you and not let go. Have Courage, I am near. I, Jehovah, am the true Joshua.

SOUL: Alas, if I could only pass over! Sinai terrifies me, when Lightning, Vapour and Fire cover it, when the Voice of Thunder falls at the teaching of the Law. Cursed are those who do not keep your Commandments. My God and Lord! if I could only have crossed over.

JESUS: I am the end of the Law; whoever believes in me will be free from the Threat written in the Law by Moses. Whoever covers himself with my Spirit has already fulfilled all that I am. I am quick to help him so that he can keep all that he has gained. I am the end of the Law.

Soul: O! if only I could soon cross over. Wherever I turn I see Mountains and great Heights. There is no Path to travel on. I am always circling back and am afraid that I may be deceived. My God and Lord! if only I could soon cross over.

JESUS: I am the Way, the Light and The Gate, through me you can enter in. I will take you to the Place where you shall see my Salvation. The Mountains will be brought low; because I the Most High, am with you, you will have safe Passage. I will help you onward; I am the Way, the Light and the Gate.

SOUL: O, if only I could soon pass over! Here there is only Complaints that it is too Difficult to get there. Most turn back, they are afraid of being consumed by that Land. O, my God and Lord! If only I could soon pass over.

JESUS: Through me, through my Jesus-Strength, through the Blessing of my Spirit, , which I bestow on you as a Knighthood, everything is possible for you. It will not be Difficult for you, if you do not listen to idle Chatter. Let them not keep you Away; for through me, through my Jesus-Strength everything will be Accomplished.

SOUL: O, if only I could soon cross over! Here in this barren Desert, carnal Desires still plague me. I see Snakes, Fire, Hell, Disgust, Murmuring and Peor’s monstrosity, and many other Horrors. My God and Lord! if only I could soon cross over.!

JESUS: Lay yourself on my Jesus-Breast, touch my Wounds, my Blood washes every carnal Lust away. Those who find me are freed from every Horror. I will defend and protect you. Keep this in Mind: even if you must die lay yourself on my Jesus-Breast.

SOUL: Alas, if only I could soon cross over! I have found Jordan; when Death comes, I will be ready. I will praise and give Thanks for my safe Passage here. I will give eternal Honour to the Most High. My God and Lord! I am ready to pass over.

JESUS: My Death is the Death of your Death, my Life is your Life; how can Death cause Distress when I give you Life? therefore be not Afraid, for to pass over is but a Moment. My red Wounds will heal your Misery. My Death is the Death of your Death.

SOUL: Alas, if only I had already gone! Alas, Jesus, I am Weak, help me that I may join the Choir of Angels soon. Your Name is Holy and Exalted, you have helped me this far, make my end a Blessing. My God and Lord! Alas, if only I had already gone!

JESUS: I have heard your Request, I will help you pass over. I will place the Crown of Life on your Head and lead you in to the blissful Choir of Angels and you will dwell with God for Ever. I am your Shield and Reward. I, the Son of God, will help you pass over.

SOUL: Praise, Honour and Hallelujah I sing to You, O God! what I wished for, I have received. Praise God! I have succeeded! Victory is mine, I see Land, You led me with a mighty Hand, I am and will remain eternally close to You, Jehovah! Praise and Honour be! Hallelujah! Amen!
