Romans 6:6

Knowing this, that our old Man, is crucified with Him, that the Body of Sin might be destroyed, that henceforth, we should not serve Sin.

Lord Jesus! we read about You and your Torment in the Scriptures. With our Hypocrisy it rarely touches our Heart. We rebuke Judas and complain of Peter’s failings.

Another eagerly pressed the Crown upon You, Saviour, while the Soldier mauled your Face so cruelly and mercilessly mutilated your Side.

How few are those that grasp the true meaning of your Suffering. They accuse You of hateful sinning and use that as the cause of your Torment. But You have borne the heavy Burden of Mankind’s Sins.

Truly You bore great Pain and took away our Sickness; but many People have hard Hearts and stay on the Sinner’s Road. And with twisted Minds crucify You again.

Lord Jesus! let your bitter Suffering touch my Heart and cut such deep Wounds that bleed until Satan’s Desires and Power are completely washed away.

What good does it do if I sing of your Suffering, but it comes not from my Heart? Righteous repentance is needed; convert me, O mighty Father! You are Saviour and Healer of all the World.

I lay myself at your Feet, let my Tears flow so copiously that Sorrow and Lament sprout in my Heart and penetrate through to my Soul.

So that from now on I will not do the Things that displease You, Lord. Through your Suffering and Death graft me to You. Let me die to sinning and always remain a Twig in You for Ever.

Lord! strengthen my Faith every Hour and stand by me in the struggle, for I am Weak. Let no One rob me of the holiness of true Faith; without it we are lost and will not see Salvation.

When we consider Christ’s Wounds, Stripes and Shame with a matured Devotion our Hearts will overcome. Satan’s Hosts cannot tempt us, for we no longer cling to what the World stands for.

Fame, Beauty, Lust, Honour and Wealth, all the Treasures of this World are only for those who despise Christ’s Cross and Humiliation. They only seek that which pleases.

Jesus! through the Memory of your Torment, break my evil will, still my Pride and Sin. Let the Memory of your bloody Sweat and Fear and the Cross kill in me all that is Earthly, False and Sinful. Amen.
