Psalm 39:12
Hear my Prayer, O Lord, and give Ear unto my Cry; hold not Thy Peace at my Tears: for I am a Stranger with Thee, and a Sojourner, as all my Fathers were.
I am a Pilgrim like my Fathers before me, travelling to Jerusalem, that great City founded on the Blood of Christ. There I will praise my God! I am on a Pilgrimage to the new Jerusalem!
I quickly leave this Land and in my pilgrim’s Robe walk toward my Home above. The Home that the Lord Jesus prepared for me. He Who taught me to despise what is Temporary and to seek only that which is Eternal. I pray my escort of Angels may bring me before the Lord so I can see His unveiled Face clearly.
No Journey is without Hardships. The Road is narrow and my Enemies many. I stumble upon Thorns and walk through barren Deserts. Yet I take my walking Stick and Faith and walk unafraid. I leave the World and it’s Possessions behind me. I need not fret or worry as long as I have Jesus Christ my one and only Guide to show me the Way.
The Sun that shines into my Heart Fails and the Tempests buffet me. My Spirit is weary and there is no Rest any where. But still I hurry over Mountains and through Valleys, Heavenward where I will find many Friends. The Dividends for my Effort will be to see the golden Gate of Heaven before me, where I will be reconciled with Jesus Christ through his Blood and Word.
Already the Blind of the World do not know me. I am a Stranger on Earth, but up there are Friends who will know me. Here in this Desert there is only Fear. O my Saviour come! Do not let me wait too long. There I will serve You with the Heavenly Host, burning with the purest Love and rejoicing for ever! Amen.
